HOUSTON – A while back, former OU coach Kelvin Sampson interviewed for the head coaching position with the Houston Rockets.
He didn't get it, but according to a source close to the team, he will still end up on the coaching staff for the Rockets.
A person close to program told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Sampson will be the head assistant coach for head coach Kevin McHale in Houston.
No official announcement has been made by the team because of the current lockout.
Sampson had been an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks since May of 2008.
