OKLAHOMA CITY -- A popular market that's been around in Oklahoma since 1889 is closing its doors for good.
Crescent Market, a gourmet grocery store in Nichols Hills, will close up shop on October 29.
Right now, the market is renting its current building from Chesapeake. Contrary to some rumors, Chesapeake says it did not force the market to shut down.
Chesapeake says the decision stems from the recent opening of Sunflower Market nearby and deteriorating business trends over the past few years.
Chesapeake says it has already started working on a plan to remodel the building and open a new market later next year.
