NORMAN, Oklahoma – After the Sooners dominated Texas in a 55-17 win in the Red River Rivalry, OU head coach Bob Stoops sat down with News9's Dean Blevins to talk about it.
Stoops said he was particularly pleased with the way his defense played, but that he would never let his team get overconfident and think beforehand that it could dominate Texas the way it ended up doing.
Stoops also made sure to give praise to defensive coordinator Brent Venables for the way the defense performed, and offensive co-coordinators Jay Norvell and Josh Heupel for helping quarterback Landry Jones get off to a fast start.
Stoops said the team's plan coming into the game was to shut down Texas' running attack and force its two young quarterbacks to make plays. He said he thought the Sooners did that successfully, and that was the key to their big win.
