Police are investigating a shooting that happened in Cushing Saturday night. Officers say they have located a person of interest in this case.
According to the police department, officers responded to the call of a shooting in the 2300 block of East Main Street just before 6 p.m. Police said a man was shot while he was driving his pickup truck.
The victim was later taken to the Cushing Regional Hospital by Cushing EMS.Cushing police did not release any information about the victim's condition.
A person of interest, 19-year-old Jerry Dale Bennett, has been located and was questioned at the police department, police said. He was later jailed on an outstanding Payne County warrant for failure to appear.
Police said they also spoke with Glencoe resident, 20-year-old Richard Earl Michael. He was arrested for obstruction and was booked into the Cushing jail.
"The investigation is still ongoing," said Chief Terry Brannon. "We still have more interviews to conduct, and until those interviews are completed, we will not prematurely assume what we think may have occurred."
