President Barack Obama and other presidential hopefuls are filing declarations of candidacy in Oklahoma.

The three-day filing period began Monday for candidates seeking to be on Oklahoma's presidential preferential primary ballot. The presidential primary election will be held March 6.

The filing period will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, at the Oklahoma Election Board office at the state Capitol. The filing fee is $2,500.

President Obama was the first candidate to file his paperwork on Monday, followed by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul and Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Candidates do not have to file in person, and Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax says presidential candidates often have their filing fees and paperwork delivered to the office or have someone file the paperwork for them.
