An elderly man recovers at his Shawnee home this week after he was attacked and robbed at the post office.
Police say Fritz Anderson, 83, was checking his mail at the Shawnee Post Office on Sunday, December 11 around 1:30 p.m. Anderson told police he didn't remember much else after that.
When police arrived at the post office, officers found Anderson lying in a pool of blood with a large gash on the back of his head and cuts to his hand and ring finger. Police said they believe the thief was trying to remove the man's ring.
Anderson told police the thieves took his wallet and a silver-colored money clip. Anderson was taken to Unity Hospital where he was treated and released.
No arrests have been made in the case.
