LOGAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -- One man is dead and another escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident in rural Logan County Sunday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports 26-year-old Domingo DeLossantos-Mencia died at the scene of massive injuries received when the pickup he was driving slammed into a tree.

The accident happened about shortly after 10 o'clock Sunday morning on Stevens Road just south of Simmons Road.

The trooper's report said DeLossantos-Mencia's truck was traveling southbound on Stevens at a high rate of speed when it went out of con troll and veered off the roadway to the right striking a tree.

DeLossantos-Mencia's passenger, 18-year-old Guillermo Nieto, was not injured.

DeLossantos-Mencia's body was pinned in the wreckage for more than an hour before being freed by firefighters from Woodcrest and Guthrie.

The trooper's report said both of the truck's occupants were wearing seatbelts.  The cause of the accident was listed as driving at an unsafe speed for the existing road conditions.
