What a sad ending to such a storied life, Coach Joe Paterno died at 85. I found Paterno's reaction to the Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, curious.
He seemed aloof, although he acknowledged he should have done more to stop it, he didn't come off as remorseful that he didn't.
Obviously, it affected him more than he showed, dying of cancer this weekend, just two months after he was fired by his beloved Penn State.
His son says his father remained upbeat until the very end, and that he did not die of a broken heart.
Makes you wonder though doesn't it?
Over 60 years Paterno had established his own kingdom at Penn State, and I doubt he would have ever stepped down even after news of the sex scandal broke.
And a lot of us will be left to wonder just how aware he was that Sandusky's alleged despicable behavior with children continued, after Jo Pa was first made aware of it.
It'll take a long time for that stain to be washed away for all of the great things he did at Penn State.
