The University of Oklahoma baseball team's junior infielder Matt Oberste has been named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week while left-handed pitcher Dillon Overton has garnered Pitcher of the Week honors, marking the first time since April 27, 2009, that the Sooners have swept the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards. Oberste claims his first career Player of the Week honor, while Overton earns his second Pitcher of the Week award.

Oberste's one-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning propelled No. 14 Oklahoma to a 7-4 victory over Hofstra Sunday at L. Dale Mitchell Park and secured a four-game weekend series sweep. Oberste capped off a big opening weekend with his game-winning bomb. He hit .429 with six hits - including a double, a triple and the homer - while driving in a team-high nine runs. His clutch hitting helped the Sooners rally for a three-run ninth inning Saturday night, as he cracked a two-out, two-RBI single to knot the contest at 10-all and send the game into extras. After the first week of play, his nine RBI and 12 total bases lead the Big 12.

In his opening day start, Overton fanned seven over seven frames while surrendering just two hits to help power Oklahoma to a 10-4 victory over Hofstra on Friday. The junior, who was named a preseason All-American by both Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America and was recently selected to the 2013 Preseason Golden Spikes Watch List, retired 19 of the final 23 batters he faced in his season debut to improve his career record to 15-7 at OU.

Oklahoma hosts Arkansas Pine Bluff Tuesday and Wednesday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Both contests are slated to begin at 3 p.m.
