OKLAHOMA CITY -- Most of Oklahoma remains in an extreme drought and Wednesday's snow could help.

The Oklahoma Climatological Survey shows January was the first month since April 2012 where the state finished with above normal precipitation and more help is always welcome.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows most of the state in the extreme drought category with only an area in eastern Oklahoma from Kansas to Texas in the severe category.

With this winter weather some areas have the potential to see their wettest day in months.

While snow is great, more of it is even better.

Weather scientists say about 12 inches of snow shakes out to about one inch of rainfall. But at this point, Oklahoma can't be too choosy.
