Oklahoma's Latest Flu Death Recorded In Muskogee County

The Oklahoma State Department of Health says 34 state residents have died from the flu since the start of the flu season in September 2012.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health says 34 state residents have died from the flu since the start of the flu season in September 2012.

The latest death was in Muskogee County, bringing a total for the county to two.

Oklahoma Department of Health Flu Numbers

Numbers released Thursday by OSDH show Tulsa County has had eight deaths due to the flu, Oklahoma County has had five and Comanche County has had four. Washington County has had three deaths and Pittsburg County has had two flu-related deaths.

Single deaths are reported in Blaine, Cherokee, Cleveland, Cotton, Creek, Mayes, McIntosh, Nowata, Rogers and Stephens counties.

The Health Department says there have been 1,066 hospitalizations in the state this flu season.

The flu season in the state run through May.

The OSDH says of the 34 deaths, 28 were persons 65 years of age or older, five was those 19-64 years of age and one was a person 18 or younger.
