Perhaps one of the most heartbreaking parts of this story was that elementary school, Plaza Towers, where seven students died. On Wednesday crews wrapped up their work at the school.

Recovery efforts wrapped up Wednesday morning and the really amazing story seems to be that more people weren't killed here. One classroom was missing all of its walls, the roof gone too.

As the massive tornado headed for Plaza Towers elementary, the students would take shelter in these classrooms, crouched against the interior brick walls.

But Wednesday, many of those classrooms were simply gone. Over 400 students went to school here, miraculously all but seven would be rescued from the rubble. Many told of how their teachers provided protection and comfort.

But what's left of these halls still seem to be haunted by what happened here.

What took the recovery effort here so long is that officials didn't know exactly how many people we're here when the tornado hit. So they looked through every room, under every piece of wood, to make sure no one was left behind.
