The Big 12 Conference released its early-season television selections and kickoff times on Tuesday. The kickoff times for Oklahoma's first four contests of the 2013 season are now established, in addition to the Sooners' contest at Baylor on Nov. 7.
The Sooners open the 2013 season at home with their first meeting in program history against Louisiana-Monroe on Aug. 31. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT with Fox Sports Network televising the game on a pay-per-view basis.
Oklahoma opens Big 12 play at home on Sept. 7 as West Virginia makes its inaugural trek to Norman as a member of the Big 12. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT with FOX scheduled to broadcast the game nationally. The contest will mark the Mountaineers' first road game at Oklahoma since 1982. The Sooners are 3-2 all-time vs. West Virginia, including a 50-49 win at Morgantown in the initial conference game between the two teams on Nov. 17, 2012.
Oklahoma then squares off against in-state foe Tulsa at 11 a.m. CT on Sept. 14. The game will be broadcast be either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. Oklahoma owns a 17-7-1 edge over Tulsa, including an 11-3-1 mark in Norman.
After an open date on Sept. 21, Oklahoma closes out its non-conference schedule on Sept. 28 at Notre Dame. A 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff was previously announced for this game with NBC broadcasting the contest to a national audience. The two teams met in Norman on Oct. 27, 2012 before a crowd of 86,031 at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, the highest attendance for a sporting event ever held in the state of Oklahoma.
The Big 12 also announced that Oklahoma's Nov. 7 contest at Baylor will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on Fox Sports 1. OU has posted a 21-1 record all-time against the Bears, including a 10-1 record in Waco, Texas.
Dates are subject to change as adjustments are possible to accommodate television partners' requests.
The Louisiana-Monroe game on Aug. 31 is being televised on pay-per-view because it wasn't selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. Pay-per-view allows fans the option to watch a game they otherwise wouldn't be able to see. A list of participating program providers offering the pay-per-view telecast will be announced later.
