Body Found Near Dumpster At SW OKC Apartment Complex

Police are investigating after a body was found near a dumpster on Friday evening at an apartment complex in southwest Oklahoma City.

The body was discovered the Meadow Park apartment complex, located at 1105 ½ W. I-240 Service Rd. Police were called to the complex just after 5 p.m. Friday after a resident discovered a body in a sleeping bag next to a dumpster. 

Steve Hayeslit says he noticed a purple sleeping bag next to the dumpster when he left for work at 8 a.m. Friday. He says when he got home at 5 p.m., the sleeping bag was still there, and he became curious.

"At in my truck a minute and checked it out. There was definitely something not right. I tapped it with my foot, and said yeah there's somebody in there," he said. 

Hayeslit called 911. Police say the body was so decomposed, they couldn't determine whether it was male, female or how the person was killed. 

Hayeslit says there have been several car break-ins at Meadow Park. He says he's lived there eight years.
