Andy Alligator's Water Park in Norman will participate in a worldwide event aimed at saving young lives by teaching children to swim.
Thousands of children are expected to take part in the world's largest swimming lesson. It's an attempt to set a Guinness World Record by conducting the largest, simultaneous swimming lesson ever in 35 U.S. states and eight countries.
Organizers, however, want to do more than set a record. They want to help children. Drowning is the second-leading cause of unintended, injury-related death of children ages 1 to 14. Research suggests if a child doesn't learn to swim before the 3rd grade, they likely never will.
The event will take place at Andy Alligator's Water Park on Tuesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. For more information, call (405) 321-7275.
