Huge Ninth Inning Pushes Express Past RedHawks

Round Rock scored eight runs on eight hits in the ninth inning, including three home runs, in a 9-4 come-from-behind win Sunday in front of a crowd of 5,113 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Express third baseman Mike Olt hit two home runs in the ninth inning as Round Rock (39-32) took a 2-1 lead in the series and took over first place in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division.

The RedHawks (36-31) hit a season-high four home runs as they took a 4-1 lead into the ninth inning. Villar hit two solo home runs for his first career multi-home run game as the Oklahoma City RedHawks scored all of their runs Sunday on homers.

Villar and Brett Wallace had three hits each for the RedHawks. Jonathan Singleton made his Triple-A debut Sunday and went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Villar hit his sixth home run of the season – a solo shot to center field – as he led off the bottom of the first inning for the RedHawks. Laird homered to left field for a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Beltre homered to right field for Round Rock to cut Oklahoma City's lead in half in the top of the third inning.

Justin Maxwell, on a MLB rehab assignment from the Astros, hit the third lead-off home run of the night for the RedHawks in the sixth inning. Villar's second home run of the game, in the seventh inning, gave Oklahoma City a 4-1 lead.

Olt led off the ninth inning with a solo shot before a three-run homer from Eli Whiteside put Round Rock in front, 5-4, with no outs. The Express added two runs before Olt's second home run of the inning – a two-run homer – for a 9-4 lead.

RedHawks starting pitcher Asher Wojciechowski allowed just one run on four hits and struck out a season-high eight batters over six innings. Jose Valdez (3-2) took the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits in 1.0 innings.

Round Rock's Joseph Ortiz (1-0) was credited with the win.

Oklahoma City's eight-game homestand concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Express Monday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
