The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has scheduled an open house next month so members of the public can get a chance to interact one on one with state troopers.

The Oct. 3 event will be located near the old Tanger Outlet Mall just off the Turner Turnpike at the Stroud exit.

Troopers will be on hand to answer questions and give recruiting advice to anyone interested in learning more about the patrol.

There also will be representatives from AAA to provide vehicle safety checks -- which includes checking tire tread wear, air pressure and vehicle fluids, among other things.

Chile car seat technicians from Oklahoma Safekids will be available to properly install the seats and answer any questions about vehicle passenger safety for kids.
