USGS Reports Earthquake In OKC Metro

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake in the Oklahoma City urban area late Tuesday afternoon at 4:18 p.m.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake in the Oklahoma City urban area late Tuesday afternoon at 4:18 p.m.

The 3.0 magnitude quake shook the area one mile west, southwest of Nicoma Park, three miles northeast of Midwest City and eight miles east of Oklahoma City.

The earthquake was nearly four miles deep, according to USGS.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
