The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) will sweep the region for fugitives wanted on warrants related to domestic violence on Wednesday.
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and OCSO is one of several agencies across the country participating in the sweep.
According to the Oklahoma Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board (ODVFRB), Oklahoma ranks third in the nation for the number of women killed due to domestic violence.
In 2012, the ODVFRB reported 39 of the 109 deaths related to domestic violence in the state were in Oklahoma County.
Anyone who needs assistance due to domestic violence is urged to call the Oklahoma Safeline at 1(800) 522-SAFE (7233).
