A badly injured dog was found abandoned at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter. Now, he is in need of a loving foster home and donations to help cover his surgery costs.
According to officials with the shelter, “Lucky,” a five-month-old terrier mix, has chain markings around his neck and his legs are badly deformed. Officials said his injuries are consistent with those of a pet who spent most of his life on a chain that was so short he was unable to move.
Shelter officials said Lucky needs surgery and foster care to live a normal life. Regardless of his abuse, Lucky is very trusting of people.
“It's sad to come to the shelter on a cold morning to find a scared, injured dog, abandoned at our building,” said Julie Bank, Superintendent of Animal Welfare. “Our goal is to get him the medical care he needs and keep him safe.”
Lucky is in need of a foster parent who can care for him while he recovers, according to officials. Anyone who has information on Lucky is encouraged to contact the shelter at (405)-297-3100 so they can continue their investigation.
Shelter officials said they are also looking for donations to their Angel Fund to help with Lucky's treatment and surgery costs. Donations to the Angel Fund go directly to pay for the cost of above and beyond medical care for animals like Lucky.
Anyone interested in giving a donation or becoming a foster parent can contact the shelter by visiting the web site at www.okc.gov/animalwelfare. Donations are accepted online.
