3.1 Magnitude Quake Reported Near Stillwater

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake near Stillwater on Tuesday evening.

The 3.1 magnitude quake shook the area six miles north, northeast of Stillwater and 30 miles northeast of Guthrie at 8:47 p.m., according to the USGS.

The earthquake was more than three miles deep.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
