Nearly an entire town is a dead zone for AT&T cell service. It's a problem that's been going on for days.
Blanchard customers were told the cellphone tower was supposed to be fixed by Monday, but now there's no set date for when the repairs will be complete. This means people with AT&T cell service will continue to have dropped calls and other service issues.
Since the end of September, it's become a game of hide and seek. Hidden around Blanchard are spots where service can be found.
It's a game Angela Clement wants to end or soon she'll be switching to a new provider.
“We've been with AT&T for years, probably 15 or more years. And we have a lot of lines probably seven or more lines on our plan. I mean we're good customers,” she said.
The issue comes from the cellphone tower on County Line Road and SW 7 Street.
AT&T told News 9 that, "technicians are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue."
A problem for many Blanchard residents who now have cell phones as their only phone line at home.
“I really consider it a hazard,” Clement said. “They’re really concerned about having to call if they had to call for help or something they would be in a bad fix.”
Until the damaged tower is fixed, Clement travels to Norman to ensure her call goes through.
“It’s just frustrating,” she said.
