Dover High School was destroyed after it caught fire early Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the school building caught fire just after midnight. When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing flames coming out of the back of the high school building.

Officials said the fire started on the west side of the building in one of the classrooms. It took firefighters about five hours to contain the fire. They are now putting out hot spots.

Firefighters from several fire departments, including Kingfisher, Dover and Hennessey, responded to the blaze. No word yet on a cause.

News 9 spoke with Dover Schools Superintendent Shannon Grimes, who said they will move the high school students to the elementary school temporarily, until the district can talk to the insurance company and figure out a permanent solution.

A funeral was set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the grade school gym for 15-year-old Donnie Guinn. Due to the fire, it will now take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Kingfisher.

"A lot of people who went to school here went to this building, they have a lot of emotional ties to this school. It's hard for them to see it burn down," Grimes said.

Nine classroom sustained extensive damage in the fire. Stay with us for updates.
