A metro area man died at an area hospital on Wednesday, after being pulled from a pool at an apartment complex.

Emergency crews responded to the Heritage House Apartments, located in the 1300 block of N. Meridian Ave. on Tuesday

Emergency crews say the man, believed to be in his mid-50s to early 60s, was underwater for about five minutes. That's when Tosha Spivey and others pulled him out, and Spivey started CPR until crews arrived.

"I'm very shaken up. That's something I never thought I would have to do ever and I'm just fortunate I knew how to do it," said Spivey. "He'll be in my prayers and thoughts until we know how he's doing and what's going on with him."

The victim, who still has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead some time on Wednesday, medical examiner's office confirms.
