News 9 is unveiling new technology that will take breaking news and storm tracking to an all new level. We're the first television station in the country to show you not only the best LIVE footage, but the exact location of the scene, right on your screen.

Breaking news can happen in an instant and with Jim Gardner in Bob Mills SkyNews 9, we can take you to the scene fast. However, now we can show you a bird's eye view with even greater detail with our new StreetScope.

"You pull it up a wide shot of a neighborhood and it shows every street in that neighborhood," said News 9 Pilot Jim Gardner.

This new, advanced mapping technology will give you a complete road map on screen.

"We can fly toward downtown Oklahoma City and it will name every building in downtown," said Gardner.

It also can pinpoint the exact location of breaking news, especially moving scenes, like during wildfires and car chases.

"I'm really not sure what street he is turning on unless we can get a visual look of that street. With this Ben can zoom in on that car and it will show the street he's driving on," said Gardner.

The technology will track severe weather with even greater location accuracy.

"It's going to be an incredible tool," said News 9 Chief Meteorologist David Payne. "When a tornado is moving through a suburb or maybe through a city, every one of those streets and businesses and schools and every address on every home is labeled."

This information will pop up over real time video.

"There will be no mistake where that tornado is, where it's been and where it is right now," said Payne. "The viewers at home, I think they are going to be so blown away of how clear this is and how easy this is to understand. It's going to be what I call precision newsgathering and precision storm tracking."
