Johnson chose LSU over the Cowboys back in 2015, when he was rated as high as the No. 11 overall prospect nationally. As a freshman he caught nine passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers last year.
LSU’s 2016 media guide has this to say about Johnson: Electrifying with the ball in his hands after the catch. Possesses the athleticism and skill to line up at any receiver position on the field. Has worked his way into contention for more playing time as a sophomore. A five-star prospect ranked as high as the No. 2 receiver nationally out of high school.
Johnson announced his intent to transfer last week and his father told reporters that Johnson was seeking a more wide open offense. He’s listed at 6-foot-1 and 189 pounds. Johnson will have to sit out 2016 due to transfer rules but his No. 3 will be open when senior Marcell Ateman graduates after the season.
