The new sheriff is shaking up the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office with new changes.
These improvements were made to address concerns both inside the jail and out in an effort to transform the agency and improve the jail.
Sheriff P.D. Taylor announced several new initiatives including a video system which allows for more video arraignments and fewer inmates having to be taken to the courthouse.
He said 50 new security cameras have been added to the jail, and committees have been formed to talk about ways to improve worker morale and retention.
The sheriff has also implemented a mental health initiative. The sole job of three jail staff will be identifying inmates with mental issues in order to get them mental healthcare faster.
