It's that time of year for one of the Salvation Army's most notable fundraising programs.

We're all familiar with the Salvation Army's red buckets and bells as they started popping up all over the metro last week, but there's another way to give through the Salvation Army.

If you are at either Penn Square or Quail Springs malls for any of your holiday shopping, you'll notice Angel Trees.

Interested community members will be able to adopt angels from the trees through Dec. 8.

The way it works is those willing to donate select tags from the tree, with specific interests and clothes sizes on them.

The tags have an "angel," or child in need's name on it along with some basic info to make donating to them easier.

The 2016 Red Kettle campaigns raised more than $606,000 in Oklahoma, Cleveland and Canadian counties.

Last year, the Angel Tree program provided 2,089 families with Christmas gifts and food which were all made possible by the local community.

The giving trees in the metro area officially open at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Penn Square Mall's tree is located near Pottery Barn.
