Oklahoma City dealing with a good problem. It has tens of millions of extra dollars to spend on MAPS 3 projects.
City officials says projections were conservative and much of the money has been earning interest in the bank.
The original projection was $777 million for nine major projects and improvements. The surplus from collection is now at $33 million.
“It all goes back to eight years ago, the projections they made were conservative and they did a great job with that. We’ve exceeded in a lot of months what they expected,” says MAPS3 Program Manager David Todd.
The city says it won't decide how to divide up the money until after bids go out for the MAPS3 Convention Center in the Spring.
