Lon Kruger’s Sooners are heating up, winning six-straight and jumping into the Top 25 thanks to the hottest player in America. Trae Young continues to lead the nation in scoring at 28.8 ppg and he’ll go for his eighth-consecutive 28+ point game tonight against Northwestern State.

Opening tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Northwestern State is led by point guard Jalan West (13.3 points and 4.7 assists) and forward Ishmael Lane (11.0 points, 6.8 rebounds) is a steady presence in the paint. Lane is coming off two-straight double-doubles and West had 24 points, five assists and four steals in the Demons’ last game.

A win against the Demons would give Kruger 610 career wins, surpassing Sooner coaching great Billy Tubbs for 32nd on the all-time coaching wins list. OU is 6-0 all-time against Northwestern State.

OU also gets sophomore forward Kristian Doolittle back tonight. Doolittle had to sit out the fall semester due to academic issues.

Next up for the Sooners is Northwestern on Friday night. OU opens Big 12 play on Dec. 30 at No. 15 TCU.
