Empire Slice House in Oklahoma City's Plaza District is asking for the public's help in finding its iconic pink elephant statue they call “Ellie”. It was taken off of their property late Monday, January 7.

This isn’t the first statue stolen in the past few days either.  A purple penguin statue from 21C Museum and Hotel was stolen just last week. Luckily, there was a good ending, and the penguin was returned shortly after it was taken from 21C.

Empire Slice House is hoping for the same outcome.

“She is the icon of Empire Slice House. She's been with us since day one. Going on about five years now,” Steven Schuster, area director for 84 Hospitality Group, said.

Unfortunately, the culprit was barely captured in the top left corner of the outdoor security camera’s footage.

“What we can see is the car pull up right here on the curb. We see the feet of the individual hop out. You can see him grab her, move her to the car. Place her on top of the vehicle,” Schuster said.

Schuster says they did get a shot of the license plate. They're working to get a better look at it.

This isn't the first time Ellie's been stolen. It happened just three years ago.

“That evening turned out to be more somewhat of a prank. She was returned

shortly after that. I believe by the next morning we did have her back,” Schuster.

The statue isn't cheap. But they told News 9, "Ellie" has sentimental value.

Right now, staff members' biggest concern is getting the statue back in one piece. But if it isn't brought back soon, Shuster says it could bare significant consequences.

If you have information regarding the pink elephant’s whereabouts, you’re asked to reach out to Empire Slice House on social media or call them at 405-557-1760.
