New Texas Law Makes Stealing Packages, Mail A Felony

Texas is cracking down on porch pirates and mail thieves.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, R, signed the new bill which will make mail and package theft a felony. The law will go into effect on Sept. 1.

Anyone convicted could face up to 10 years in prison and could expect fines of $10,000 or more.

A survey in 2018 estimated 26 million Americans have had a holiday package stolen from their home.
