Man Threatens Metro Middle School, Arrest Caught On Body Camera Footage
NORMAN, Oklahoma - Two men were arrested after Norman police received a report of threats made against a Norman middle school, officials said.
Ryan Nathaniel Tripp, 21, and Michael Shane Mahseet, 28, were arrested in connection with the reported crime following a traffic stop near Highway 9 on August 15th. Investigators accused Tripp, who was the passenger in the car, of being intoxicated at the time of the arrest.
The reported threats were to the safety and security of Alcott Middle School. Court documents state Tripp had called and left a message at the school that he was going to “kill everyone of you.”
News 9 has learned that Mahseet admitted to hearing Tripp make the call while the two were playing a game of truth or dare at their home.
So far, investigators have not found any evidence that would make them think the two could carry out the threats. However, they say school was slated to start August 16th and because the suspects stated close to campus there was reason to believe the attack was planned and had a high likelihood of occurring.
Tripp and Mahseet were booked into the Cleveland County jail. Tripp was charged on one count of felony terrorism hoax. Mahseet was charged on a misdemeanor count of obstruction.
