Thunder Announces 2016 Theme Nights

The Thunder announced dates for theme nights for its 2016-17 season in advance of Thunder tickets going on sale to the public on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10:00 a.m. CT.

The Thunder will hold Thunder Alley outside of Chesapeake Energy Arena on Reno Avenue ahead of both October home games, including the Opening Night game on Oct. 28 against the Phoenix Suns.Thunder Alley will return for select dates in November and March and will open to fans three hours prior to tipoff and will close when the game begins.

All fans in attendance for Opening Night on Friday, Oct. 28, will receive a Sprite schedule magnet, including a calendar of 2016-17 Thunder games and tune-in information.

The Thunder will celebrate the state’s strong Native American heritage with Native American Heritage Night on Wednesday, Nov. 16, when the team faces the Houston Rockets.

On Saturday, Dec. 31, the Thunder and its fans will send off the old year with the traditional New Year’s Eve game. For the ninth consecutive season, the Thunder will close out the year with its fans, this year taking on the Los Angeles Clippers. This tradition continues alongside several other events downtown for Opening Night, Oklahoma City’s New Year’s Eve celebration.

Rumble the Bison will be joined by several of his fellow NBA mascots on Friday, Feb. 3, for the annual Mascot Mania. In addition to welcoming Rumble’s furry companions, the Thunder will play host to the Memphis Grizzlies.

During Black History Month, the Thunder will hold Black History Appreciation Night on Sunday, Feb. 26, as the team meets the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Thunder will give special recognition for our current military service members and our veterans at its annual Military Appreciation Night presented by Dell, which will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 28, against the Utah Jazz.

As a part of the NBA’s Noches éne-bé-a, which recognizes the growing support of NBA fans and players across Latin American and U.S. Hispanic communities, the Thunder will host Hispanic Heritage Night on Tuesday, March 7, against the Portland Trail Blazers.
