OKC Man Facing Domestic Violence Charges For Injuries To Girlfriend, Son

An Oklahoma City man is facing a number of charges stemming from a domestic abuse incident that took place early Wednesday morning on the southeast side of the metro.

Police arrested 20-year-old Darion Peterson after they were called out to investigate a domestic violence situation in the 3200 block of SE 44th St. just after 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

When police arrived they met the victim, Peterson’s live-in girlfriend of the past two months, who according to the report was very shaken and showed physical signs of abuse. She told police the altercation started after she returned home from work and confronted Peterson about fresh bruises she found on his 6-year-old son.

According to the report, shortly after being confronted about the injuries to his child, Peterson became enraged, stating he will discipline his son how he pleases and that it’s none of her business.

Peterson soon became physical with his girlfriend, pushing the victim violently into the bedroom door before throwing her down on the bed and choking her. The victim also told police that Peterson hit her repeatedly with various objects in the bedroom before she was able to run away. She said she tried to grab the phone and dial 911 but Peterson took it from her and continued the assault.

The victim managed to make it outside where she eventually found someone to call police.

Police say when they spoke with Peterson he admitted to fighting with the victim, but claimed it started with her hitting him. In the report police noted that Peterson did not show any physical signs of being attacked.

Police interviewed Peterson’s son, who told them he had been spanked and that his dad had hit him in the face with the back of his hand. Police noted that the child had bruising on his right shoulder on the back and front and that the boy's bottom lip was swollen.

Peterson was then arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, one count of Child Abuse, one count of Domestic Abuse by Strangulation, one count of Domestic Abuse in the Presence of a Child, and one count of Interfering with an Emergency Call. No bond was set.
