Some homeowners in an Edmond neighborhood will have the opportunity to meet with Wal-Mart representatives to discuss the proposed commercial development in the area.

After defeating the proposal for a “Wal-Mart type” store from developer MVG, Covell and Coltrane neighborhood residents are heading to a new meeting called by Wal -Mart officials.  The meeting, which is not sponsored by Edmond’s Community Connections, will be held at 28 E. Main Street in  Edmond on Thursday, July 9 at 5:30 p.m.

During the meeting, Wal-Mart representatives will be revealing the proposed plan and addressing some of the issues raised by homeowners in the past.

“We are all interested in the plans for this area.  Our concerns are still the same – traffic, safety, noise, woodland destruction, to name a few.  However, we are going there to listen and respectfully ask questions.  We believe a two-way dialogue is in the best interest of the neighborhoods and the community,” said Ashley Perkins, neighborhood representative.

According to officials, neighborhoods potentially impacted by the proposed commercial development on the northwest side of the intersection are AsheForde Oaks, SteepleChase, FairCloud, Fairfax, Iron Horse Ranch, Autumn Ridge, Cheval Pointe and individual homeowners on the south east side of the intersection.
