High Water Closes Some Oklahoma Camping/Boating Locations
OKLAHOMA CITY - With the Memorial Day holiday weekend ahead, several state park campgrounds and boat ramps in Oklahoma are either partially or fully closed due to high water.
The state's tourism department said some camp sites and/or boat ramps at McGee Creek State Park, Lake Wister State Park, Lake Thunderbird State Park, Lake Texoma State Park and more are impacted by high water.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Tulsa says recent rains have reduced the number of camping sites, boat ramps and beach areas which are open at a number of its recreational areas.
With more rain expected this weekend, officials said campers and boaters should frequently check on the status of their favorite camping and boating destinations.
