Former Longtime OKC Radio DJ Passes Away
OKLAHOMA CITY - Former Oklahoma City radio DJ Dan Stroud has passed away, according to KXY-FM radio.
KXY posted a message on their Facebook page, announcing Stroud's passing on Thursday at Mercy Hospital.
Stroud spent more than 20 years at KXY. For years, people all across the state began their day with Dave and Dan.
Stroud is being remembered as one of the biggest names in Oklahoma City radio. He was an employee at KXY when the radio station transitioned from 96-X to country back in 1982.
Stroud along with Dave Murray were a staple in Oklahoma City morning radio until the two ended their run together in 2005.
The station posted this message on its Facebook page early Friday morning:
"Sad news to pass on to our KXY family --Dan Stroud passed away today at Mercy Hospital. I don't have all the details as of yet but please keep his wife Karla & their family in your thoughts & prayers. Dan, of course was here when we transitioned from 96X to Country back in 1982--he & Dave were THE morning team for almost 25 yrs in OKC but he was more than that. He was a husband & father who was loved, a friend who was trusted and a colleague who was admired. He will be missed but his legacy will always live on in the hearts of those lives he touched!
Another one of Dan's colleagues at KXY, long-time co-host Patti Garrett passed away in June after a lengthy illness.
