Several units were damaged in an apartment fire Tuesday afternoon.

They first got the call around 4:30 p.m. for a fire at Balboa Park Apartments, at 4700 South Fulton Avenue, just south of I-44 and east of Yale.

Firefighters say two units were damaged by fire and eight were damaged by smoke and water. They say there was no true firewall in the building of 16 units.

Capt. Stan May said some pets were saved from the apartments after the people were evacuated.

May said there were no injuries reported from the fire. There's no word yet on what caused the fire.
