Man Dead After NW OKC Shooting, Police Say Shooter Acted in Self-Defense

One man is dead after a shooting inside an Oklahoma City home, Thursday night, and police say the man who pulled the trigger was his brother.

Investigators say this all started when 40-year-old Michael Hall showed up to his mother's house Thursday night demanding money. Police say Hall attacked his mother, and that's when his brother shot him in what appears to be a case of self-defense.

A fight between two brothers turned this northwest Oklahoma City home into a crime scene. When officers arrived around 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Hall had already been shot.

Police say his older brother, 54-year-old Timothy Trueblood, pulled the trigger.

"It appears that he shot his brother in defense of his mother," OKC Police MSgt. Gary Knight said.

Police say Hall had shown up to his mother's house, near NW 16th and Rockwell, armed with a knife. News 9 is told he confronted his mother in the garage, demanding money.

"She retreated inside of the home. He forced his way into the house and attacked his mother. Ultimately, the deceased person's brother intervened, shot the suspect who'd come in, shot his brother, causing his death," Knight said.

Paramedics took Hall to a local hospital, where he died a short time later. According to court records, Hall was due in court in February for violating a protective order filed by a woman earlier this year.

Hall has been in and out jail since 2000 for several different crimes, most of them domestic abuse charges. Now police say Hall's brother stopped his next violent attack.

Trueblood was interviewed at police headquarters Thursday night. He was released and at this point, he isn't facing any charges.

This marks the 99th homicide in Oklahoma City this year; the highest number of homicides in Oklahoma City on record is 102 in 1979.

Oklahoma is also now up to 11th in the nation for domestic violence-related deaths.
