Medical Examiner Identifies Body Found Near Shawnee

The State Medical Examiner has released the name of a man found dead a couple of miles outside of Shawnee in Pottawatomie County.

Workers with Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) found the body July 17 while working in a remote area near S. Bryan Avenue and E. Farrall Street. It was badly decomposed. The medical examiner used dental records to positively identify the person as 19-year-old Joshua Keys, a man who'd been reported missing from Shawnee.

Keys was last seen June 2 near the North Canadian River. The medical examiner is still trying to determine a cause of death. Police have not said if foul play was involved.
