The Oklahoma City RedHawks looked to be on pace for an easy victory through the first half of Monday night's game at Bricktown Ballpark but Omaha had other plans.
The Storm Chasers scored seven consecutive runs in the final four innings to post a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over OKC.
The RedHawks took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Matt Dominguez hit a line-drive single to left field, driving in Brandon Barnes and Jimmy Paredes.
OKC added a third run when Barnes crushed an RBI single to right field, which could have turned into more but J.B. Shuck was picked off at third base to end the inning.
But Shuck came back in the fourth with an RBI single, driving in Travis Buck. OKC added a second fourth-inning run when Landon Powell grounded out to the short stop with Brian Bixler scoring from third.
The RedHawks weren't done yet, scoring their third run of the inning – and final run of the game – when Barnes grounded out to the pitcher and Shuck scored from third.
Then the wheels came off for Oklahoma City.
In the sixth inning, Omaha's Will Myers smashed a two-run homer over the left field wall to cut into OKC's 6-0 lead. After the Storm Chasers scored two more runs early in the seventh, Omaha completed the comeback with a game-tying second two-run homer from Myers.
Omaha scored the winning run when Tony Abreu reached on a fielding error by pitcher Mickey Storey and Derrick Robinson scored.
It was a particularly bad day for pitcher Fernando Abad, who came in for relief for the RedHawks and gave up four earned runs in 0.2 innings to allow the completed comeback.
The two teams meet again Tuesday night at 7:05 in Oklahoma City.
