One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle accident in Logan County just after 12 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the sheriff's report, 69-year-old Clinton McDaniel and his wife, 67-year-old Polly McDaniel, were driving their 1997 Jeep Liberty northbound on Midwest Blvd. near Simmons Rd.
Clinton was driving when he departed the roadway to the right for an unknown reason. The vehicle overcorrected and went off the road to the left, overcorrected again and flipped one and a half times, landing on its top.
Polly was pinned in the wreckage for about an hour before being extricated by the Guthrie and Woodcrest Fire Departments using the Jaws of Life. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Clinton refused an ambulance ride to the hospital, was treated and released at the scene. He later arrived at the hospital for treatment in a personal vehicle.
Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. The vehicle was equipped with airbags, but they did not deploy. Deputies believe that Clinton may have been distracted by something outside of the vehicle at the time the crash occurred.
