Deputies in Cleveland County will be in full force this holiday weekend.
According to Sheriff Joe Lester, his deputies will have a strong presence throughout the county over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
While the sheriff's department wants people to enjoy the extended weekend, they also want them to be safe. Deputies are asking people to wear their seat belts as they travel to their destination and do not drink and drive. Also, watch the speed limit. Deputies will have a watchful eye for speeding drivers and will stop you.
"I hope everybody has a good time with their family and friends over the Memorial Day weekend but please be cautious and keep safe," Lester said. "If you disregard the law, you will find yourself in trouble and spending the long-weekend in jail."
The holiday weekend will also draw crowds to area lakes. The sheriff's department reminds people to wear life preservers while boating or swimming. Even the strongest swimmer can get into trouble in the water and drown.
Sheriff Lester said his deputies will arrest and jail anyone caught breaking the law and putting others in danger.
