OU's Keilani Ricketts Throws First Career Perfect Game
NORMAN, Oklahoma – Keilani Ricketts has had some impressive accomplishments in her career, but this one might be up near the top.
Ricketts threw her first career perfect game on Friday in an 8-0 victory against the Kansas Jayhawks.
In typical Keilani Ricketts fashion, she also had a home run in the game to complete her dominance.
She had 10 strikeouts in the circle despite just having to throw just five innings in the run-rule.
Ricketts said she was really fired up during the game.
I could hear my defense behind me and they really got me excited," she said. "I didn't do it myself though, my team helped me out. There was one ball that could have gone through the defense but Jessica (Vest) made a great play on it for the out."
Meanwhile, the Sooners racked up 11 hits of their own.
OU moved to 28-4 overall and 4-1 in Big 12 play while picking up its 18th shutout of the year. Kansas dropped to 23-8 (2-5).
The two teams will return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Norman.
