Shawnee Man Dies After Stabbing, Stepson Faces Murder Charge

SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – A Shawnee man now faces a murder charge in the stabbing death of his stepfather.

Thirty-eight-year-old Nickey Sneed was arrested on September 12 for attempted murder. According to a police report, Sneed allegedly stabbed his stepfather, 58-year-old Ron Lee Scott, in the mouth.

It happened about 5:30 p.m. on September 12 at Scotts home, 221 W. Midland, in Shawnee. Police arrived to find Scott bleeding from his mouth from an apparent stab wound. Scott identified Sneed as the suspect. Police found Sneed nearby and arrested him.

Scott died over the weekend at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. An official cause of death has not been released. However, police have upgraded the charge against Sneed to second-degree murder.

Formal charges have not been filed yet. Sneed remains in jail.
