OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Mustang man was killed early Thursday morning when his car crashed into a utility pole at N.W. 10th Street and Sara Road.
Someone driving by called police around 4 a.m. to report a car off the road. When officers arrived, they discovered the driver had been ejected from the car and killed. Police called out their helicopter to search the area and make sure no one else had been thrown from the vehicle.
Police said it appeared 21-year-old Lucas Zeneski was driving too fast southbound on Sara Road when he crossed some railroad tracks, lost control and crashed into a utility pole.
"[The driver] struck a utility pole, split the pole in half. The lines are still up at this time, they are not down," Oklahoma City Police Capt. Nate Tarver said.
Police said Zeneski was not wearing a seatbelt when the car crashed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
OG&E crews came out to repair the pole. Service in the area was not affected.
Sara Road was shut down for several hours while police investigated the crash. It reopened around 7:15 a.m.
