Woman Killed; 11-Year-Old Son Injured in Portland Avenue Wreck
OKLAHOMA CITY – A woman was killed and her 11-year-old son was injured in a wreck Monday morning in north Oklahoma City.
Police found 45-year-old Lisa Powell and her son, Alekzan Powell, after a citizen called 911 at about 6 a.m. to report a car in the ditch on Portland Avenue between N.W. 164th and N.W. 178th streets.
The boy was transported by ambulance to University of Oklahoma Medical Center and transferred to Children's for surgery. He is currently out of surgery and listed in stable condition.
The exact time of the wreck is unknown, but the boy told officers at the scene they had been there for a while.
Police said the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.
It is unknown as to what caused the collision. Police do not think any other vehicle was involved.
