Sam Bradford continues to rehab his right shoulder and I'm told is tossing around a nerf ball.

The word was he was not having any discomfort in the shoulder-hard to imagine with a grade 3-but I'm also told the shoulder is sore. Reading only tea leaves has me less confident of his Miami return. But I'm the guy who initially gave a 75 percent chance that he'd not return all season. Most expect him back fairly soon. However, I'm not ready to say that he will unequivocally return this season. Lots of moving parts involved.

Don't be surprised if OU's true freshman MLB Ronnel Lewis is a star someday. This 8-man football fellow out of Dewar, OK is physically ready for the NFL. The only thing holding him back is not understand the Brent Venables defensive schemes enough to warrant more playing time. However, unlike the perception that the MIKE position is the toughest of the three LB's, it's really not.

TU is only a 15 point underdog against OU in Norman this weekend. Sounds like that's not enough. But there's a reason the guys who set these lines do what they do. Sam Bradford garners more value to his team than any other in the USA. I'd guess OU would be a 25 point favorite with Bradford. And by the way, I respect TU and wouldn't run to Vegas thinking OU would roll.

I believe Florida and USC are so good that there is a significant gap between them and the rest of the country. USC's talent level is off the charts. They win big games. If you are like me there was no question that they would drive down the field for the winning touchdown on their last series. Of course no one needs to be told how good the Anointed One and his fellow Gators are. Hope I'm wrong on this assessment, but I don't think so.

If the golf season ended right now most are assuming Steve Stricker would win player of the year honors over Tiger Woods. Yes, Sticker won a major. But Tiger's seven-shot cakewalk this past weekend shows how much better he is than the field and is his sixth win of the season. I expect Tiger to win in the final Fed Ex event and seal the POY question. Winning the ten million in the Fed Ex contest should count for more than anything except majors. Think these guys aren't getting after it with that much money on the line? DB
