OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma's Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray and Oklahoma State's Kendall Hunter were all among the players on the watch list released for the Doak Walker Award.

The Doak Walker Award is given annually to the nation's top running back, and last year was awarded to Iowa's Shonn Green.

Brown and Murray were part of a historic backfield last year alongside quarterback Sam Bradford. The Sooners became the first team in NCAA history to have a 4,000-yard passer and two 1,000-yard rushers in the same season.

Kendall Hunter led the Big 12 in rushing last year with 1,555 yards, and was third in the conference with 6.5 yards per carry.

The Big 12 as a whole had seven players on the watch list, the most of any conference. Other than Brown, Murray and Hunter, the list included Texas Tech's Baron Batch, Texas A&M's Cyrus Gray, Nebraska's Roy Helu, Jr., and Kansas' Jake Sharp.
